PhotoLog is developed and operated by BESTAPP Digital, a Canadian software company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the PhotoLog Android application and the photolog.ca website.

📋 2. What We Collect

PhotoLog is built with a minimal data footprint. Here is exactly what is collected and where it lives:

Stored on our servers (Firebase):

• Email address — collected when you create an account. Stored in Firebase Authentication. Used only to identify your account and enable password reset.
• Password — never stored in plain text. Firebase Authentication handles all password hashing and security. We cannot see your password.
• Subscription status — whether your account is Free or Paid. Stored in Firebase Realtime Database under your user ID. Used only to manage feature access.
• Image count — a running total of photos you have captured. Stored in Firebase Realtime Database under your user ID. Used only to enforce the Free tier limit of 24 images.

Payment data:

• Payment information — subscription payments are processed entirely by PayPal. BESTAPP Digital receives only a confirmation that payment was completed. We never see or store your credit card or banking details.

⚙️ 3. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Authenticate you and keep your account secure
• Manage your subscription tier and enforce feature limits
• Process subscription payments via PayPal
• Respond to support requests you send us directly

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating your account.

🗄️ 4. Data Storage & Security

PhotoLog uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Firebase Realtime Database) to manage your account credentials, subscription status, and image count. Firebase is hosted on Google's secure, industry-standard cloud infrastructure.

All other app data — your photos, GPS coordinates, notes, and image keys — is stored only in local storage on your device. This data never leaves your phone unless you explicitly share or export it yourself using the app's built-in export feature.

Access to your Firebase account data is protected by Firebase's secure authentication token system and is accessible only to your authenticated session.

🔗 5. Third-Party Services

PhotoLog integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase — account authentication, subscription status, and image count storage. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• PayPal — subscription payment processing. Governed by PayPal's Privacy Policy. We receive only a payment confirmation; we never see your payment details.
• Google Maps — used within the app to display a photo's capture location. Only the GPS coordinates of the selected photo are passed to Google Maps to render a map pin. No account data is involved.
• Google Play — app distribution and updates. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties.

✋ 6. Your Rights & Choices

You have full control over your data at all times:

• Access your data: All your photo data is visible and searchable within the app at any time.
• Export your data: You can export all your images and metadata as a ZIP file — including a formatted HTML Field Report — directly from the app.
• GPS control: You can disable GPS tagging at any time from within the app. Disabling GPS does not affect data already recorded on existing photos.
• Delete photos: You can delete individual photos and their associated data from within the app at any time.
• Delete your account: To permanently delete your account and remove your email, subscription status, and image count from Firebase, contact us at albeix@gmail.com. We will complete the deletion within 30 days.

🔮 7. Future Versions of PhotoLog

Future versions of PhotoLog may offer optional cloud storage for photos and metadata, enabling features such as cross-device sync and cloud backup. If such features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated prior to release and you will be notified within the app. Any cloud storage features will be clearly opt-in — PhotoLog will always remain fully functional with all data stored locally on your device.

👶 8. Children's Privacy

PhotoLog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at albeix@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

📅 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes — particularly any that involve storing new categories of data on our servers — we will notify users via the app before the change takes effect.
