PhotoLog vs Timemark
Both apps stamp field photos with the time, place and your notes. They’re built for different people: Timemark for teams sharing a cloud workspace, PhotoLog for individuals who want their photos on their own phone and one simple price. Here’s an honest look at which one fits you.
Timemark details taken from timemark.com, checked October 1, 2026. Prices and features can change.
Which one should you choose?
Choose PhotoLog if you…
- Work on your own, or each person keeps their own photo records
- Use an Android phone
- Want your photos to stay on your phone, not in someone else’s cloud
- Want one flat price per phone instead of a per-user subscription
- Send clients or insurers a ready-made field report by email
- Want anyone to be able to check a photo without uploading it
Choose Timemark if you…
- Manage a crew that needs one shared, synced photo workspace
- Need iPhone support or a web dashboard for the office
- Want photos backed up to the cloud automatically
- Need Google Drive, OneDrive or SharePoint integration
- Are fine paying per user, per month for those team features

Two different approaches to verification
Timemark: checked against Timemark’s records
Photos taken with Timemark’s Photo Code enabled can be checked at verify.timemark.com, by uploading the photo or entering the code shown on it. The check compares it with Timemark’s capture records for time, location, device and authenticity information.
PhotoLog: a fingerprint of the original file
With the Image Fingerprinting add-on, every original photo you export gets a SHA-256 fingerprint recorded on the PhotoLog server, time-stamped by the server’s own clock. Anyone can drop the file onto photolog.ca/verify-photo. The fingerprint is calculated in their own browser, so the photo never leaves their computer. Change a single pixel and it no longer matches. It’s tamper-evident: it shows whether the file has changed since it was recorded.

Frequently asked
Is PhotoLog a good Timemark alternative?
For individuals on Android who want one flat price, photos kept on their own phone, and ready-to-send field reports, yes. If your team needs a shared cloud workspace, iPhone support or a web dashboard, Timemark is the better fit.
Can my team use PhotoLog?
Yes, but each person keeps their own library on their own phone. Team members can use the same key (for example, a job number) so photos are named consistently, then combine their exported field reports. There’s no shared workspace.
Does PhotoLog work on iPhone?
Not at this time; PhotoLog is Android only. The Verify page works in any browser, so iPhone users can still check photos someone sends them.
Are PhotoLog photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Photos, GPS locations and notes stay on your phone. With Image Fingerprinting turned on, only each photo’s fingerprint is recorded, never the photo itself. See the Privacy Policy.
